Loss is the only
lesson of age
that can't
(and shouldn't)
be taught.
Up to a certain point
it's all gain.
We grow up, We learn,
We become and expand.
Once the additions subside
And the subtractions begin
We stop growing up
And start growing old.
We don't need to be told
What we couldn't be told
Before.
